A Worth County jury has returned a guilty verdict in the murder trial of Randall Evans. Attorney General Chris Koster says the killing was the result of a meth deal gone bad. Evans, 58, of Stanberry was found guilty of first-degree murder in the killing of a King City man, 47-year-old Daniel Wolf.

An eye witness testified that Evans shot Wolf over methamphetamine that Evans paid for, but that Wolf did not provide. Two other witnesses testified that Evans confessed to them that he killed Wolf. Wolf was last seen on May 5, 2011. His body was never found.

Blood discovered in Evans’ kitchen was linked to Wolf, and a bullet reported by the eye witness was recovered from the kitchen ceiling.

“This case marks yet another brutal crime in Missouri linked to meth,” Koster said. “While prosecuting murders and other violent felonies across the state, we continue to see the human toll that meth takes, particularly in our state’s rural areas.”

The trial was held in Worth County on a change of venue from Gentry County.

Assistant Attorneys General Tim Anderson and Lauren Barrett assisted Gentry County Prosecuting Attorney Jerry Biggs.

Formal sentencing for Evans is scheduled for November 7, 2013.

The only possible sentence under Missouri law is life in prison without the possibility of probation or parole.
