Missouri driver pleads in death of jogger

A south-central Missouri man has been placed on five years of probation for striking and killing a jogger, then driving away from the scene.Court

Seventy-eight year-old James Krewson, of St. James, pleaded guilty Monday to second-degree involuntary manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident.

Krewson had initially said he didn’t realize he had hit Lisa Persicke as the 44-year-old St. James resident jogged along a Phelps County road on Aug. 19, 2012. But he admitted in court that he left the scene after realizing he had injured someone.

The two charges carry maximum terms of four years each. But Judge Gregory Warren suspended the possible prison time and put Krewson on supervised probation.

The case was tried in Pulaski County on a change of venue.
