(AP) — The pilot of an ultralight plane has died in a crash at a private airfield southeast of Kansas City.

The Jackson County sheriff’s office was called just before 6 p.m. Tuesday. Sheriff Mike Sharp says the crash happened as the pilot was attempting to land on the grass runway of a small airfield known as Lamb’s Field near the town of Lone Jack.

The name of the victim wasn’t immediately released, pending notification of relatives.
