The 4th annual Great Northwest Winefest this Saturday will raise money to grow new businesses in Northwest Missouri. Organizer Marilyn Alldredge says nine wineries will show their stuff in Mound City. The winefest has grown into the biggest fundraiser of the year for Northwest Missouri Enterprise Facilitation. In its six years the non-profit has helped start 57 businesses, 7 acquisitions, 7 expansions, 11 retentions, and only one of these new businesses closed. It has created 223 jobs and retained 58.

The Great Northwest Winefest will be noon to 8 pm Saturday at North Griffith Park in Mound City. Admission is $20 per person if you’re sampling the wine, $10 if you’re just looking.
