Eastbound and westbound U.S. 59 over the NEW Amelia Earhart Memorial Bridge will be reduced to ONE LANE in each direction in the eastbound lanes for demolition prep work in Atchison (Atchison County) through-Tuesday, October 8 between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. each day. (Westbound lanes will be moved with traffic shifted into eastbound lanes, one lane each direction during the daytime closures.)

Drivers should expect delays during the daily lane closures and will be directed through the project work zone via signage and cones. NOTE: There will be a 12-foot lane width restriction in each direction during the daytime lane closures.

The Kansas Department of Transportation urges all motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs, and “Give ‘Em a Brake!” when approaching and driving through the project work zone.
