Northwest Missouri State junior cross country runner Anne Herbert was named the MIAA Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week on Tuesday in an announcement made by the league office.

Herbert was the Bearcats top finisher on Saturday at the Arkansas Chile Pepper Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. Herbert ran 18:49.9 to place 53rd in the 5K race. There were 318 total runners in the field that included 24 teams. Northwest Missouri finished ninth overall as a team at the meet.

Up next, Northwest will head to the Fort Hays State Open on Saturday, Oct. 12.
