Officials believe Martin Williams and Tangela Fisher shared a home at 442 N. 17th last month when Fisher suffered an apparent overdose.
Investigators believe Williams prepared a syringe containing an as-yet unidentified controlled substance for Fisher. Court documents assert that Fisher, 25, injected herself, and then became unresponsive.
Authorities discovered Fisher’s body in a remote area of Platte County on Friday, September 13.
Authorities believe Williams built a wooden box, dumped the body into the box and dumped the box in Platte County. Police accuse an illegal immigrant named Juan Naranjo with helping dispose of the body.
Williams is charged with involuntary manslaughter and abandonment of a corpse. Naranjo is charged with hindering the prosecution of a felony. Police say Naranjo had drugs and paraphernalia in his pocket when he was arrested. He is also charged with possession of a controlled substance, and faces possible immigration enforcement.
On Thursday and Friday the pair each waived his right to a preliminary hearing in the case. Both are scheduled for arraignment in Circuit Court November 4.
