Patrick (Pat) Lewis Caton

CatonPatPatrick (Pat) Lewis Caton, 80, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 15, 2013. Pat was born March 14, 1933, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Clark and Norma Caton. He married Joann (Jody) Hollingsworth March 7, 1951.
He worked at the St. Joseph Stockyards as a Commission Man and Cattle Salesman for both Producers Livestock Commission Company and Swift & Henry Livestock Commission Company. His career at the stockyards spanned more than a 50-year period.
Pat was a member of the Mid-Buchanan School Board and the Sparta Cemetery Board. He was also a member of Sparta United Methodist Church.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Jeffrey Clark Caton and Jack Scott Caton; one grandson; three brothers, Burman, Charles, and Joseph Caton; six sisters, Mary Hessel, Dorothy (Pug) Herrick, Annalee Couture, Virginia Kirn, Buelah (Boots) Francis, and Kathryn Zeiders.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jody; three daughters, Patti Jo Halter and husband, Wayne, of Kansas City, Missouri; Cheryl Ann Anderson and Michel Guernsey and Dorothy Jane (Janie) Martinez and husband, Louie, all of St. Joseph, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; his brother, Robert Caton and wife, Sue of St. Joseph, Missouri; brother-in-law, Henry Kirn of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; sister-in-law, Dorothy Caton of St. Joseph, Missouri, and several nieces and nephews, including Connie Lentz and husband, Donnie, of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Charles (Buck) Caton and his wife, Sharon, of Buena Vista, Arkansas.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 18, 2013, at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. James Barnett and Rev. Rodney Krumme officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2013, at Rupp Funeral Home. Internment will be at Sparta Cemetery. Flowers are welcome, but if preferred, donations may be made to Sparta Cemetery Board, care of Rupp Funeral Home.The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation for the thoughts and prayers shared during this difficult time.
