Two Close Calls In Traffic

MSHP purpleThe Missouri State Highway Patrol says motorists at two locations narrowly averted disaster Thursday.

Minor injuries were reported in a crash in Cameron Thursday afternoon involving a semi and a road construction striping crew. Investigators say Leslie Hill of Des Moines was driving his Peterbilt on I-35 at 12:50 pm when he crashed into the rear of the striping crew’s truck.

Mr Hill, 49, and Chanon Fine, 38, of Charleston, Illinois, the driver of the striping truck, were transported to Cameron Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

Be careful pulling your vehicle onto the shoulder of a highway during an emergency. State troopers report a trucker from Omaha ran low on fuel along US-36 west of Osborn shortly after six pm Thursday.

Eric Heldenbrand’s International 4300 straight truck rolled onto its side when the wheels on the passenger side went off the pavement.

Heldenbrand refused medical treatment at the scene.
