(AP) — A Kansas judge says she will issue a written ruling after both sides in a sperm donor case presented arguments for a summary judgment in their favor.
Attorneys for the state and William Marotta appeared at a hearing Friday before Shawnee County District Judge Mary Mattivi in the case of a Topeka man who donated sperm to a lesbian couple who advertised for help on Craigslist.
The state contends Marotta is the father of a now-4-year-old girl and must pay child support. Marotta’s attorneys say he signed a contract waiving parental rights before providing sperm and never intended to become a father.
The judge didn’t say when she would issue her ruling.
