The former Neely Elementary School in St Joseph is among dozens of nominees to the National Register of Historic Places. Other nominees include a church in Cape Girardeau and the Rainey Funeral Home in Marshfield.
The St Joseph School Board sold the Neely facility at 1909 South 12th Street in 2011 for $50,000. The Foutch Brothers firm was expected to renovate the building into nearly two dozen apartments.
The Missouri Department of Natural Resources says the Missouri Advisory Council on Historic Preservation will consider nominations for the National Register on Nov. 8 in Jefferson City. The meeting is open to the public.
The DNR says about 55 historic buildings are represented in the nominations, and properties on the agenda include historic commercial and residential properties and districts.
