A southwest Missouri woman has been charged with having illegal sex with a teenager and helping dispose of her body last year in Truman Lake.
Court documents unsealed last week show that 37-year-old Amy Leigh Hartley, of Buffalo, faces charges that include statutory sodomy, tampering with physical evidence and abandonment of a corpse. No attorney is listed for her in online court records.
A man described in court documents as Hartley’s occasional boyfriend, Anthony James Balbirnie, has been charged with second-degree murder and other charges in the teen’s death during “asphyxiation sex.”
The criminal complaint identifies the girl only by the initials “K.P.” The complaint accuses Hartley of helping move the body after the death and washing bedding in an effort to thwart investigators.
