A 43-year-old St Joseph man has been charged with theft after allegedly stealing someone’s wallet and going shopping with the victim’s credit card.

Daniel Kerns was identified through surveillance video from St Joe Frontier Casino.

Police say Kerns took the wallet Oct. 6 and used the victim’s credit cards in St Joe and Atchison.

Commander Janice Rothganger of the St Joseph Police Department says the surveillance video prompted tips from the community, which led to Kerns’ arrest.

Prosecutors filed one class-c felony count of Theft/Stealing Of Any Credit Card Or Letter Of Credit.

A judge set bond at $10,000. Kerns is being held pending arraignment November 5.
