A St Joseph neighborhood north of the downtown area remains under a precautionary boil advisory after a water main burst over the weekend.
Up to 100 homes and businesses were left without water starting Sunday afternoon at 2pm. Christie Barnhart, a spokeswoman for Missouri American Water, says service was restored Monday afternoon. Barhnart says the water boil advisory for that neighborhood was expected to be lifted by about 2pm Tuesday.
Barnhart says the section of the 16-inch transmission main has been removed and replaced. The outage forced AFL-CIO Community Services to postpone the start of its Adopt-A-Family Christmas program. That program was expected to get underway at 1pm Tuesday.
The outage affected dozens of customers along Powell between 6th and 9th, North 7th between Lincoln and Powell, and North 8th from Lincoln to Albermarle. Sixth Street remains closed between Powell and Albermarle.
