Another Court Ruling Against Red Light Camera Ordinance

redlightRed light camera laws similar to the Saint Joseph ordinance have been dealt another setback in court.

The Western District Missouri Court of Appeals has found that the Kansas City ordinance conflicts with state law because it doesn’t assess points against a driver’s record. The Saint Joseph ordinance also does not assess points.

The ruling from the Western District comes three weeks after the Eastern District Missouri Court of Appeals reached a similar decision about the red light camera ordinance in Ellisville, Missouri.

Saint Joseph and Kansas City suspended enforcement of their ordinances until the issue is clarified in court. American Traffic Solutions, the vendor in Saint Joseph, Kansas City, and Ellisville, is appealing to the Missouri Supreme Court.
