Authorities on Wednesday announced the three finalists to fill the vacant associate circuit judge position in Platte County.
The governor now has 60 days to choose one of them. The finalists are Kansas City attorneys W. Ann Hansbrough and Christie Jess, along with Weston attorney Abe “Quint” Shafer V.
The governor will choose one of them to fill the vacancy created by the promotion of Judge James Van Amburg to Circuit Judge.
There were 10 applicants for the vacancy in the Sixth Judicial District. Three of the applicants were women, seven were men, and there were no minority applicants. The average age of the applicants is 39 years.
