1:20 p.m. An investigation into the early morning shooting by a Missouri State Trooper continues.
A media release from the Missouri Highway Patrol said at 3 a.m., a state trooper saw a man walking in the middle of Noland Road at I-70.
The trooper asked the man what was in the bag he was carrying, the man said “drugs.”
In addition, the man indicated he was carrying a 9 millimeter gun and then stuck his hands in his waistband as if he was trying to get the gun.
The trooper then fired shots, killing the man, because he feared for his life.
Authorities say their investigation has determined that prior to the shooting, Williford was in a nearby Quik Trip and told the store clerk that he was going to rob the business before leaving.
