Knighten has been charged by the Buchanan County Prosecutor’s Office with 1st Degree Burglary, 2nd Degree Robbery, and misdemeanor receiving stolen property.
In addition Knighten had an active felony state warrant for forgery at the time of his arrest.
Officials say the placed a heightened sense of urgency on the investigation because several residents encountered Knighten during the break ins. No one was seriously injured during those incidents; however the potential for a violent confrontation was a major concern.
Officials say the investigation continues with officers from the St Joseph Police Department’s Patrol division, Detective division and Street Crimes Unit.
