St. Joseph City Council members will decide January 6th whether to place a smoking ban on the books or on the ballot.

The Council took preliminary steps Monday night after the group “Smoke Free St Joseph” presented petitions urging passage of a clean air ordinance.

The council must either pass the ordinance as written, or put it on the ballot in April.  The measure in the petitions includes exemptions for the gaming floor at St Jo Frontier Casino, some hotel rooms, and some private clubs.  Tell us your thoughts on the issue in the comment section below and participate in our poll.   [polldaddy poll=7634125]
