James J. “JJ” Wigington, 73, St. Joseph, passed away from bone cancer at his home surrounded by family.
He was born November 30, 1940 to James and Mary (Joe) Wigington in St. Joseph.
JJ proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was an engineer with the Burlington Railroad for thirty-five years.
He enjoyed playing poker with his Wednesday night poker buddies and going to classic car shows. He also enjoyed his trips to Tipton, where he leaves behind many friends. He was an avid Chiefs fan, but most important of all was his family.
JJ was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Bryan.
Additional Survivors: his beloved wife of 46 years, Judy; daughters, Lori Mollus (Tony) and Jo Peters (Barry); sister, Carroll Fike; grandchildren, Cori Mollus, Jake Mollus (Steph), JP Peters, Katie Chilcoat (Ryan), Kelsie Wigington (Jeff Matthias) and Shelbie Wigington; seven great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Karrie Wigington; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family wishes to thank Hands of Hope Hospice and JJ requested that everyone dress casual for the visitation and service.
Services: 10 a.m. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery.
