Representative Tim Huelskamp (KS-01) is speaking out in response to inaccurate statements and news reports that the recent Ryan/Murray Budget Deal included funding for NBAF (National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility). In both the state legislature and in Congress, Rep. Huelskamp has been a strong supporter of the project:
“Recent statements and news reports claiming the Ryan/Murray Budget Deal included funding for NBAF are completely inaccurate. This deal did not include any appropriations. Instead, it was an agreement to increase overall deficit spending by $63 billion over the next two years, but did not identify spending for any specific program, agency, or project.
“With or without passage of this deal, the current funding for the federal government expires on January 15th. The House, Senate and President have until that date to pass a spending bill. We can appropriately comment on what may or may not have been included for NBAF at that time.”
