Traffic Stop Leads To High Speed Pursuit

KHP-Patch2.jpgA Hiawatha man was treated, released, and then thrown in jail after a high speed pursuit in northeastern Kansas Monday.

A trooper with the Kansas Highway Patrol tried to stop 21-year-old Jesse Mitcham for speeding In Nemaha County.

Officers from four agencies continued the pursuit along US-36 into Brown County near Horned Owl Road.

That’s where Brown County deputies deployed stop sticks in the roadway, disabling the passenger-side tires on Mitcham’s Nissan.

Mitcham’s vehicle then sideswiped a vehicle in oncoming traffic. The other driver was not hurt.
