ST. JOSEPH – Elizabeth Ann Sadler, 84, passed away Monday, December 22, 2013 in a St. Joseph health care center. She was born July 19, 1929 in St. Joseph and is the daughter of Grace and Edward Hendra. She graduated from Benton high school and St. Joseph hospital nursing school. She married Neal Lawrence on October 14, 1950 and he survives of the home.
She was a Registered Nurse at the Missouri Methodist Medical Center and the St. Joseph (Sisters) Hospital. She helped start group home developmentally disabled children, and was a long time member of Wesley United Methodist Church, and the United Methodist Women Group.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents,; a brother, John “J.T” T. Hendra; a sister, Josephine Hendra; and two, grandchildren.
Survivors include, husband, Neal Sadler of the home; four daughters, Janet Hedges and husband Marion “Shorty” of Cape Coral, Fla.; Diana Lynn Higgins and husband Steven of Presque Isle, Maine; Rhonda Blaylock and husband Kim of St. Joseph; Valerie Ann Sadler of St. Joseph; son, Jeffrey S. Sadler and wife Holly of St. Joseph; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marie Patchin of St. Joseph.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Rupp Funeral Home with Rev. James Barnett officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., on Saturday at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery . Memorials are requested to the Special Olympics.
