St Joe Streets Department crews kept busy over the weekend moving snow and treating streets. The city received six and a half inches of snow during the storm that started Saturday. Meteorologist Ryan Cutter tells us the largest snowfall amounts were in Northwest Missouri.
“The highest totals were in Savannah, where they got almost eight inches, and in Bethany, where the did get a solid eight inches of snowfall,” Cutter said.
Maryville received seven inches of snow. Four inches were recorded in Cameron and in Chillicothe.
Crews of fourteen men, working 12-hours on, 12 hours off, were called in starting about noon Saturday. They started treating some routes by mid afternoon Saturday, and began plowing in earnest by midnight. By Sunday evening they’d managed to clear most of the city’s emergency and secondary routes.
On Monday morning, parking restrictions under Phase Two of the Emergency Snow Ordinance had been lifted along several emergency routes. By 1:30am Monday, routes 1,2,4,6a, 6b, 8, and 9 had been released.
