Fire investigators say a space heater set up to thaw a frozen water pump sparked a Christmas Eve fire that destroyed a Grant City home and left the family homeless. The blaze was reported at about 1:30pm Tuesday in the 600 block of West Fourth Street in Grant City.

Several people inside were able to make it outside safely, but it appears the family dog may not have survived.
