BaconFest St Joe MO is the hot, new and slightly quirky event coming to the St. Joseph Civic Arena from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2014. Eagle Communications is planning a full line-up of activities leading up to this event which will celebrate everyone’s love of bacon!
“Eagle Communications has been a part of a lot of fun and exciting events in St. Joseph over the years”, said Jenny Cathcart, local sales manager with Eagle Communications.
“We started looking for ideas on how to use the combined strength and efforts of all four Eagle Communications stations, KJO 105.5, Qcountry 92.7, 680 KFEQ and ESPN 1550 along with our online news source, stjosephpost.com to bring a fun, new and quirky event to benefit the community. This idea became BaconFest St Joe MO”.
BaconFest – St Joe MO is all about anything and everything BACON! Bacon food, bacon drinks, bacon memorabilia, bacon clothing, bacon music — bacon, bacon, bacon!
Eagle Communications will be leveraging its media power to create a funding opportunity for a local charity dealing primarily in children’s issues and provides children’s services. Any qualifying non-profit within the listening area of any of our four radio stations is eligible to apply.
Applications for non-profits are currently available by contacting the BaconFest Team at Eagle Communications and will be accepted until February 28. Eagle Communications will make a minimum donation to the selected non-profit of $5,000. This donation will grow with the success of the event and help from the sponsors, vendors and attendees.
Sponsorships are now being offered for this event. These sponsors may have the opportunity to host events leading up to BaconFest St Joe MO. These events create giving opportunities with the proceeds going to the non-profit recipient. A number of activities and contests are being planned. These activities will be designed to create community involvement in unique and quirky ways – anything and everything to celebrate bacon!
Limited vendor space will be available starting in April and will be available on a first reserved basis. All vendors must provide a bacon sample for the attendees. Please check the BaconFest St Joe MO Facebook page for details as they become available.

General Admission tickets will be available sometime in July, please check the BaconFest St Joe MO Facebook page for details as to when they will be available for purchase. Limited amounts of tickets will be available. Similar events across the country sell out quickly.
BaconFest St Joe MO – “The Pig Party” A full line up of entertainment is being planned. Featured entertainment for the BaconFest Pig Party will include two incredible bands with great followings. Country band True North, a regional favorite, has won the opportunity to be main stage entertainment at Country Stampede on two different occasions playing both covers and original music. They are fun band. The second band is another local favorite, Tequila Mockingbirds who play primarily covers of all your favorite songs.
BaconFest St Joe MO – “A Ton Of Bacon” – The Apple Market Grocery stores are helping kick off BaconFest by providing a literal ton of bacon as a part of their sponsorship for the event. Yes, Apple Market is providing 2,000 pounds of bacon for the vendors to use in providing bacon snacks for the attendees and contests.
