SW Mo. Mom Sentenced in Suffocation of Infant

Jail(AP) – A southwest Missouri woman has been sentenced to life in prison for suffocating her 2-month-old son to death.

Twenty-seven-year-old Titianna Light was sentenced Friday for second-degree murder in the death of her infant at their Springfield home.

Light was charged in October 2010 after police found the child dead at her home.

KOLR-TV reports that probable cause statement says Light initially claimed her son died after she put him down for a nap and later found he had rolled over on his stomach and was not breathing.

The court documents indicate Light later told investigators she held pillows over the infant’s face for about one hour, until he was no longer breathing or moving.
