“Twin Cups,” a ceramics exhibition featuring 64 artists from 30 states, will be on display in the Potter Hall Gallery at Missouri Western State University Feb. 28 through March 28. An opening reception will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28 in the gallery. The exhibition and the reception are free and open to the public. “Twin Cups” is sponsored by the Missouri Western Clay Guild, the Department of Art and the School of Fine Arts.
Artists submitted either functional or sculptural representations of a pair of cups, mugs or other drinking vessels. Susan Speck is the exhibition’s juror and will award prizes for Best in Show ($500), First Place ($200) and Second Place ($100).
Speck has been creating with clay since taking a ceramics class while a student at MU-Columbia in the 70’s. Her work as been represented in several publications and she has been a participant in many local, regional, national and international art fairs and juried exhibits. She has been a member of KC Clay Guild for the 25 years of its existence and serves as the workshop chair as well as the chairman of KCCG Teabowl National. In addition to being a member of Potters Council and NCECA Susan is also the ceramics instructor at William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo.
