Manhattan–On Friday, February 28th, around 3:13 p.m. the Riley County Police Department received a call from an individual reporting that they had discovered a body in the water, in the Tuttle Cove area of Tuttle Creek Lake.
The Riley County Police Department responded and upon arrival confirmed that a body was in the water and appeared to be deceased. The Riley County Police Department, along with the Riley County Emergency Management, Riley County EMS, Tuttle Creek Corps of Engineers and the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office were on scene and retrieved the body from the water.
A coroner was summoned and after arrival pronounced that the body recovered from the water was deceased. Although much of the lake is frozen, the body was located in an area of thawed water that extended a short distance from the shore.
The deceased individual was taken to the Kansas City area for an autopsy by a Forensic Pathologist. The identity of the deceased individual is being withheld pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.
