A Chillicothe Police officer already in trouble with the law for allegedly hindering a DUI investigation now faces more serious charges.

In a news release, Livingston County Sheriff Steve Cox said Brent Allen Schade, 40, of Chillicothe was arrested Wednesday for investigation of rape, sodomy and supplying intoxicants to a minor.

Charges filed Wednesday include rape or attempted rape, and sodomy or attempted sodomy, both unclassified felonies.

Sheriff Cox says the incident was reported to have taken place over the night of March 3 and into the early morning or March 4 in the 300 block of Cherry Street in Chillicothe. Court records indicate that Schade lives at 311 Cherry.

Schade is already facing a court hearing March 26 on misdemeanor charges of Hindering Prosecution and Tampering with Physical evidence. Caldwell County Prosecuting Attorney Brady Kopek has been assigned as a special prosecutor in both cases.

Schade has been with the police department in Chillicothe for the last six years. Officials in Chillicothe say he was placed on administrative leave without pay on January 24, 2014.

According to Sheriff Cox, a variety of evidence has been collected or is currently being sought in the sexual assault case. Cox says a second person of interest was identified and his office is seeking that individual for questioning. Several people have been interviewed and the investigation continues.
