A St Joseph man pleaded guilty Monday to charges stemming from a string of very expensive burglaries on Museum Hill. Clint Mechling, 40, says he entered the home at 1121 Charles Street through an unlocked door.

The owners of the mansion discovered missing door knobs, windows, and other fixtures missing. They were worth upwards of $50,000.

Buchanan County Circuit Judge Patrick Robb accepted Mr Mechling’s guilty plea, ordered a sentence assessment report, and scheduled sentencing for april 28.

Judge Robb denied a request to reduce Mechling’s bond. He remains in custody in lieu of $35,000 bail bond.
