Livingston County Sheriff Steve Cox says he’s lost “an outstanding deputy” to the better pay at Chillicothe Police Department.

Cox accepted the resignation of Deputy Ryan Ford, who started with the Sheriff’s Office in March of 2012. Cox says Livingston County receives a supplement grant for deputy sheriff pay, but there is still a substantial difference between the benefits, costs of benefits to employees, and base pay between the two government entities.

“Deputy Ford told me he has no choice but to change jobs as he has to provide for his family,” Cox said in a news release. “The combined difference amounts to about $512 per month before taxes.”

So Cox has put out another help-wanted ad on the county’s Web site. www.livcoso.org under employment opportunities.
