WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) condemned the draft Clean Water Act rule released this week by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. The rule would reportedly give the federal government regulatory authority over millions of acres of wetlands and streams by greatly expanding its authority over “waters of the United States.”
“This is yet another brazen power grab by the Obama Administration. This proposed rule would have a devastating impact on Missouri farm families, and it has serious implications for productive activities like dredging, filling, and drainage nationwide,” said Blunt, who serves as Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies.
“I will fight the EPA’s proposal and I will keep fighting the Obama Administration’s attempts to takeover Americans’ private properties,” Blunt concluded.
