The St Joseph Fire Department responded Monday morning when a metal roof was blown off a manufactured home on the lot at Summers Motors at 510 N. Belt.
Battalion Chief Paris Jenkins says high winds lifted a metal roof off the building and into some power lines. He says that could explain why some at the scene reported they smelled smoke.
Jenkins and his team checked the structure of the building, and aside from the roof damage, gave it their okay. They determined there was no fire.
KCP&L checked the power lines for safety. Suddenlink was also called to check out the cable lines there. There were no injuries.
