St Joseph Ties Noted In Stolen Truck/Meth Case

An investigation continues in Atchison, Kansas after two people were arrested there in a pickup truck stolen in Kansas City. There are numerous connections to St Joseph in that investigation.

Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson tells us an officer on Saturday spotted the 1990 GMC pickup with no license tags in a parking lot on Tenth Street. The vehicle had been reported stolen last week in Kansas City. Wilson says the two occupants gave investigators false names, and that both were in possession of methamphetamine at the time of their arrest.

Stanley Fleer of Kansas City, and Kristen Milum of Kearney, Missouri are in custody charged with possession of stolen property, obstructing the legal process and drug possession.

Chief Wilson says Mr Fleer was recently released from jail in St Joseph, and Ms Milum allegedly picked him up here in the stolen truck. According to statements from the suspects, they had just arrived in Atchison when they were stopped by police.

Wilson says they recovered a handgun in the stolen vehicle, and charges could be pending against Ms Milum because she can’t legally own a firearm. Wilson says a long gun was stolen with the truck, and investigators in Kansas City are trying to confirm whether it was sold in St Joseph.
