In a fight for their playoff lives the Missouri Western tennis team was in a must win in order to have a chance at post season play. A lot like the rest of the season the Griffons play hard but lost a close battle with the Wasbhurn Ichabods 5-4 ending their season. The Griffons took a 2-1 lead after doubles but lost in four of the six singles matches to lose by one. The Griffons end their season with a 1-14 overall record and 1-9 in MIAA play.

After doubles things looked good for the Griffons as they held a 2-1 lead with 8-6 victories by both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Denise Chiao and Lindsay Beger won against Kirsten Holle and Gwen Shepler in No. 2 doubles while Alyssa Dougan and Kayla Dysart won against Nzingha Banks and Sophie O’Neill.

In singles action the Griffons got victories at No. 4 and No. 5 singles but could not pick up the third victory to get the win. Ceara Boldridge won 6-2, 6-2 against Maria MoralCarretero at No. 4 singles while Beger won 6-0, 6-3 against Holle at No. 5 singles. Meara Smith played touch but fell 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 singles to Jodie Blackim while Denise Chiao fell at No. 3 singles by scores of 7-5, 6-0 against O’Neill at No. 3 singles. Dougan played tough but fell 6-2, 6-4 at No. 6 singles while Dysart fell 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles.
