7 p.m. KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Kansas City’s police chief says a suspect in a string of random highway shootings that have wounded three people is in custody.
Police Chief Darryl Forte tweeted that he will provide additional information about the new developments in the investigation at a news conference Thursday night.
Police said last week that they had connected 12 shootings since early March that have targeted vehicles on Kansas City-area roads. Investigators have looked into as many as 20 reported highway shootings as part of their investigation.
Most of the shootings were reported in an area in the southern part of Kansas City, Mo., known as the Grandview Triangle where three interstate highways and U.S. 50 intersect. At least one other was reported in Leawood, Kan.
6:45 p.m. KANSAS CITY – Kansas City Police Chief used twitter to report they have highway shooter suspect in custody.
Chief Darryl Forte reported more information was going to be available by 7:30 p.m.
