Livingston County just seems to be a magnet for telephone scams.

Sheriff Steve Cox says several citizens have been receiving calls from someone claiming to be with the IRS or some other federal agency.

The caller claims the citizens have a warrant for their arrest or needs a lawyer, because they owe back taxes.

That’s not something an actual federal agency would do. Sheriff Cox says your best bet is to hang up.
