Kansas woman injured in unusual I-70 accident

Screen Shot 2013-05-26 at 9.27.46 AMKANSAS CITY–A Salina woman was injured in an unusual I-70 accident on Monday afternoon in Wyandotte County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2009 Nissan Sentra driven by Meg E. Gravette-Holmgren, 39, was westbound on I-70 just east of 18th Street in Kansas City when the vehicle’s windshield was hit by a wheel and tire.

A 2007 Chevy pickup driven by Bryan M. Hubbard, Oak Grove, Mo, was eastbound I-70 towing a passenger car when the front right wheel and tire of the towed vehicle came off and crossed over the barrier wall and hit the Sentra.

Gravette-Holmgren was transported to KU Medical Center for treatment.

The KHP said she was wearing a seat belt.
