Suspect Nabbed In Traffic Stop Nearly Makes It To KCI Runway

Platte County BadgeAuthorities announced another traffic stop, another drug bust, and another complicated arrest in Platte County.

Platte County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Erik Holland tells us that the traffic stop occurred on I-29 south of 112th Street shortly after 9pm on April 29.

The driver of the vehicle fought with the deputy and fled into a field on KCI airport property between Prairie View Road and a runway.

The suspect was apprehended after a short period of time and did not make it onto the runway.

Holland says both the deputy and the suspect sustained minor injuries during the altercation.

Approximately six pounds of suspected marijuana where recovered from the suspect’s vehicle. The driver, described as a 41-year-old Asian male, was booked into the Platte County Detention Center on a 24-hour investigative hold.
