TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — A 21-year-old Topeka man is dead and two others are wounded after a shooting at a park on the city’s southeast side.
The Topeka Capital-Journal says the shooting was reported at 4:10 p.m. Saturday at Freedom Park. When officers arrived all three shooting victims already had been taken to a hospital in a private vehicle.
The two wounded men, ages 18 and 21, were treated at a hospital and released. The name of the man killed was being withheld until his family is notified.
Police say they are looking for a man driving a red SUV with tinted windows.
The homicide is the city’s second of the year and came only days after the first one. Last Sunday 42-year-old Tiffany Davenport-Ray was fatally shot just hours after her wedding.
