A convicted killer from our area has died in custody.

David Sprake was serving a 35-year prison sentence for Second Degree Murder in Buchanan County.

According to a news release, :att 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, 2014, offender David Sprake was pronounced dead at the Western Missouri Correctional Center.  Sprake died of apparent natural causes on Sunday afternoon.

The 60-year-old St Joseph man was received in the Missouri Department of Corrections on Dec. 23, 1980.
