Kansas man dies, 2 injured in collision

Screen Shot 2014-06-04 at 2.19.22 PMCherokee, Kan- The Kansas Highway Patrol has released details of a fatal accident that occurred Wednesday afternoon in Crawford County.

The Kansas  Highway Patrol reported a 1996 Olds Bravada driven by Jeremy W. Forkner, 30, Cherokee, was westbound on 510th Avenue one mile north of U.S. 400 and failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign on 160th Street.

A  2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by Kenneth J. Omeck, 67, Cherokee was southbound on 160th and collided with the Bravada.

A passenger in the Bravada Kevin E. Fleck, 20, Cherokee, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Omeck and a passenger in the Chrysler Gayla S. Omeck, 59, of Cherokee were transported to Via Christi.

The KHP report indicated Forkner was possibly injured but refused treatment.

The KHP said everyone was properly restrained at the time of the accident.
