Final Day Of Chiefs Training Camp To Feature Salute To Service Members And Some Wacky Costumes

Chiefs Training Camp2The Kansas City Chiefs Summer Training Camp in St Joe comes to a close Thursday. Organizers plan several events to close out the annual camp, including a salute to service members and veterans. There will also be several fun contests.

The Chiefs will host a Military Appreciation Day. The team will offer VIP treatment for members of the armed forces, including soldiers stationed at Fort Leavenworth and Fort Riley. Following the practice, all hosted members of the military will be invited out to the post-practice huddle with Head Coach Andy Reid and the entire team to be recognized.

The Chiefs have a long-standing tradition of supporting the men and women of the US armed forces. Thursday’s training camp visit is just one way that the Chiefs organization salutes our servicemen and women and share their appreciation for all the sacrifices that they and their families make on our behalf.

In past years, the Chiefs have hosted members of the military in the club’s VIP tent at training camp, but 2014 marks the first time that the club has designated a day as Military Appreciation Day.

They’re also planning to celebrate another successful training camp with “Breakfast with the Chiefs.” Hy-Vee will donate free donuts and bottled water to the first 500 fans in attendance.

Three contests are planned. Prizes and awards will be offered in the Best Poster Contest with the theme “Why the Chiefs should return in 2015.” The longest season ticket holder will be honored, as will the “wackiest dressed fan.”

The events start at 8:15am. The gates open at 7:45am.
