An Idaho man was taken to an area hospital for evaluation after allegedly pointing a firearm at traffic on I-29. There’s no evidence so far that the man actually fired the weapon at any vehicles.
According to the Platte County Sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received numerous calls Tuesday afternoon about a white male walking along the interstate pointing a firearm at motorists. Officers with the Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the area north of US-273 highway (exit 20 Tracy/Weston). There they found William R. Elders, Jr, age 46.
Public Information Officer Erik Holland says officers deployed a Taser before taking Mr Elders into custody. Elders was taken to an area hospital for evaluation. Investigators recovered a rifle at the scene.
