Joshua Nincehelser was charged with several crimes after allegedly shooting himself, and his patrol vehicle, and telling Richardson County dispatchers he’d been shot by a motorist he’d stopped to help. That report on June 9 led to a widespread search for the motorist Nincehelser says shot him.
The former deputy is charged with one felony count of Criminal Mischief, and three misdemeanors including False Reporting, Official Misconduct and Obstruction of Government Operations.
During his District Court arraignment Tuesday Nincehelser pleaded not guilty to the charges. He is free on bond pending a jury trial, now scheduled October 22.
