The Missouri River is rising fast, but National Weather Service forecasters say it will crest below flood stage in Saint Joseph Wednesday morning.

It was measured at just over 13 feet at 4:30 Tuesday morning and is predicted to crest at 16.3 feet at 1 am Wednesday. Minor flood stage in Saint Joseph is 17 feet.

Forecasters say the level will hold at 16.3 feet for a few hours, then drop rapidly.
