Regulators Investigate Solar Power Rebates

Missouri Public Service Commission SealThe Missouri Public Service Commission has opened an investigation into rebates paid for solar energy upgrades. The case is based upon a motion filed by the Public Service Commission Staff to investigate the compliance of KCP&L and Ameren Missouri with Commission rules regarding solar rebate payment to retail account holders.

In the PSC Staff motion, Staff indicated it has been responding to informal complaints and other correspondence from retail account holders and solar generation installers regarding the Commission’s 30-day requirement for solar rebate payment.

In its motion, the PSC Staff said it plans to request information not only from the electric companies, but also from retail account holders that have installed solar generation systems.

The Commission expects either a final report or a status report regarding its investigation no later than October 6, 2014.
