ST. JOSEPH – Wayne R. Phillippe, 88, died unexpectedly Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
He was born September 8, 1926 to Thomas and Emma (Busch) Phillippe in Fillmore, Mo.
Wayne proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. He owned and operated Phillippe’s Phillips 66 in St. Joseph. He later was a devoted employee for over twenty-five years at Gray Manufacturing. In his later years he was a gentleman farmer and was very proud of his garden.
Mr. Phillippe was a member of the American Legion Post #11 and former member of Parents without Partners.
Wayne married Norma Sechler in August 1948 and to that union six children were born: Larry Phillippe (Faye), Ricky Phillippe, Don Phillippe (Pam), Jeanne Jones (Jeff), Allan Phillippe (Bridget) and Lisa West (Jim); ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren.
He later married Laveda M. Richardson on May 6, 1985 and he gained five more children: Bob, Janie, Randy, Rod and Suzy; and numerous grandchildren. He’s also survived by sister-in-law, Virginia Phillippe; numerous nieces and nephews; and his loyal canine companions, Rufus and Casper.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Laveda; parents; infant son, Ricky; sisters, Leota Moseman, Lola Tibbetts, Mildred Carolus and Dorothy Power; and brother, Otha.
Services: 10 a.m., Wednesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home and Crematory. Interment Savannah Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.m Tuesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home and Crematory, where friends may call after 5 p.m., Tuesday. ST. JOSEPH – Thomas “Tom” E. Graham, Jr., 72, died Sunday, October 12, 2014 at his home.
He was born December 21, 1941 to Thomas and Lora (Lainhart) Graham, Sr. in Albany, Mo.
Tom married Cleota Andrus in November of 1961. They later divorced.
He worked for John King Realty and retired from Chicago Northwest Railroad after twenty-five years. He liked dancing, fishing, camping and old cars. Tom was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed woodworking and built three boats. He also enjoyed renewing old friendships.
Mr. Graham was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mark Graham; and the mother of his children, Cleota.
Survivors: daughter, Subrena Dowdall (Chris), Savannah, Mo.; sons, Damon D. Graham (Tina) and Troy Graham (Amy), of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Heather, Christopher, Colleen (Cory), Sarah, Jesse, Devon and Melissa; great-grandchildren, Selicity, Janssen, Andie, Sage, Chance and Emerie; sisters, Debora Graham and Pamela Palmer; brothers, Gary Graham (Gloria) and Steve Graham (Chandra); several nieces and nephews; and good friend, Carolyn Spinner.

ST. JOSEPH – Juanita Carroll Franke, 84, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2014 in a St. Joseph hospital.
She was born May 13, 1930 in St. Joseph, daughter of Leona Maude Palmer and Glen Sylvester Marriott.
Carroll was preceded in death by husband, LeRoy John Frank; her parents; son, LeRoy (Bubby) John Franke; daughter, Janice Sue Estes; two brothers, Glen Sylvester Jr.and wife Imogene Marriott, Jerry Dean Marriott; an unborn child; sister-in-law, Jeanie Marriott. Survivors include: two daughters, Judy Kay (Dick) Freeman and Norma Jean Huffman and former husband Richard; two brothers, James Harold Marriott and John Haven (Mary) Marriott; sister, Hazel Lee (Ken) Tebow; former sister-in-law, Annette Marriott; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and friends.
When Carroll was age 16, she met the love of her life, our father LeRoy John Franke at age 23. They began dating off and on in 1946, and were eventually overcome with the love bug in February 1949 and were married.
After Carroll and LeRoy were married, they began to start a family. LeRoy worked at Nutrena Mills and later on at Anchor Serum, until his retirement. Carroll worked as a candy striper, apple picker, factory worker and as a tobacco picker. Later she would work for Kendallwood Home Health Care, into her 70’s. In 1975 Carroll and LeRoy (mom and dad) would sell their farm in DeKalb, Mo. They would move to Rushville, Mo., after purchasing a tobacco farm where they would work side by side as husband and wife. Carroll even diligently worked at the tobacco farm of Dennis and Betty Reagan, at this time. Our (Mom) Carroll loved spending time in the tobacco fields. Mom was an amazing Christian woman, who had great strength and courage. Mom was a breast cancer survivor in 2012 and a great mother and grandmother. She was also a great friend and relative, and never met a stranger. Carroll was friendly to all she came across. We will all have wonderful memories of her, in our lives. Most of all, we will remember her blue eyes, her infectious smile, and her ability to make friends, wherever she went. Our Mom (Carroll) always loved to tell stories from the past with her children and grandchildren. Now it is our turn to share Carroll’s story. Juanita Carroll Franke was loved very much and will be missed dearly by family and friends. She belongs to the heavens now.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at New Home Baptist Church, with Rev. Charles Steele officiating. FAUCETT, Mo. – William “Mike” Michael Banks, 56, passed away Sunday October 12, 2014.
He was born November 7, 1957 in Waycross, Ga., son of Alice and Jerod Banks. He was a maintenance service tech in the mobile home industry, he was also an artist and and worked at Hobby Lobby. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was a great artist.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Jerod William Banks.
He is survived by mother, Alice Bladen of Okeechobee, Fla.; companion of 15 years, Kristal Walker of the home; two daughters, Heather Banks and Elizabeth Banks; a son, William Michael Banks Jr.; eight grandchildren; brother, Jeffrey Banks; and sister, Vickie Marie Banks, both of Florida.

ST. JOSEPH – Lillian A. Walters, 88, passed away Monday, October 13, 2014 in a St. Joseph health care center.
She was born July 17, 1926 in St. Joseph, daughter of Olive and Thomas Walters. She graduated from Benton High School 1946, She worked at Stetson Hats Manufacturing for 23 years, and retired from the State Grain Inspectors and Weighing after several years.
She has been bowling since 1946 and was considered one of the city’s best bowlers with an average of 187 at one time. She served on the board of directors of the St. Joseph WBA for nine years. She served as President of St. Joseph Women’s Bowling association, as well as several other bowling associations, she was inducted to the Bowlers hall of fame in 1985. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 359 and a recipient of the 50 years of continuous membership certificate. She was a member of the King Hill Baptist Church.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include a cousin, Doris Gaul of Manhattan, Kan.
Graveside funeral services and interment will be conducted on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 2 p.m., at the Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Rupp Funeral Home. ST. JOSEPH – Charles “Charlie” Virgil Collings, 63, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2014 at his home. He was born February 23, 1951 in St. Joseph, son of Shirley and Virgil Collings.
He retired from Sara Lee, formerly St. Joe Foods, from the maintenance department. He was a Catholic.
Charlie was preceded in death by his father, Virgil.
Survivors include, long time companion, Rose Anne Johnson of home; his mother, Shirley Mae Collings; son, Ryan Collings; step-children, Charles Moore, Phillip Johnson, Albert Johnson, Tina Middleton, and Maryann Johnson; 18 grandchildren; brother, Rick Collings; two sisters, Dianna Collings and Helen Matthews; and mother-in-law, Dorothy Potts.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, at Rupp Funeral Home, Father Ron Will officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday at Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Faucett Cemetery, Faucett Mo. Memorials are requested in lieu of flowers to the Charlie Collings memorial fund in care of the Rupp Funeral Home.
