(UPDATE) Collission with a dump truck sends two teenagers to the hospital on I-229N

Two teenagers were taken to the hospital Thursday morning after their jeep collided with a dump truck.

According to St. Joseph Police Officer Sgt. Richard Ketchem a dump truck and a jeep were northbound on I-229 near West Highland Avenue in St. Joseph.  Both vehicles tried to pass another vehicle, the driver of the jeep pulled over into the dump truck causing the jeep to flip-over on its top just before 7:30 a.m.

The driver and passenger of the Jeep were transported to Heartland with non-life threatening injuries.  The girls were 16 and 17-years-0ld.

Northbound traffic on I-229 was diverted for a period of time while authorities worked the accident.

Officers issued the driver of the jeep multiple tickets.
